Core making and handling cell for the production of motor block crankcase core packages at HUA DONG TAF foundry in China
In this core making facility, the core requirement for two complete siamese CRANKCASE/BARREL packages and the corresponding WATER JACKET / SLAB assembly is produced on three core machines at the nominal rate of 75 cycles/h (corresponding to 300 cylinder block castings).
Combining a compact layout with high degree of automation and great flexibility of operation, the facility produces cores for a wide range of motor blocks, including several different single and siamese 4-cylinder blocks for major automotive Customers.
The CRANKCASE/BARREL and the FRONT/REAR cores are produced on two 60-liter core machines featuring automatic core de-finning upon ejection from the upper core box into a core de-finning/removal fixture.
The cores are then placed on an assembly turntable where the package is automatically bonded by shooting and gassing a sand bolt through the stacked-up cores. This method does not require special tooling and has proved to be both effective and cost-efficient.
The package is then picked-off by robot, dipped into a coating tank, and deposited on the same pallet as the water jacket and slab core assemblies.
The WATER JACKET and SLAB cores are produced on one 40-liter core machine, automatically de-finned, picked-off by robot, and deposited onto a turntable for automatic assembly by screwing.
The same robot then picks-off the assembled kits and deposits them on a special coating station designed to sink the cores into the wash.HUA DONG TEKSID, China
